This series of paintings plays on time and space. They are settings whose backgrounds are copies of paintings by 15th-century Spanish painters, in front of which I placed contemporary characters separated by 4 cm from the reproductions. The distance, which separates the different protagonists, is the place of the echo which resonates between them.
The continuous flow of images telescopes eras and spaces to merge in the digital space of the Internet. The “in-between” is crushed, inducing a latent indistinctness.
To escape this state, attention can rely on the outline that delimits the objects that inhabit it in space, such as an apple and a plate, but this aspect alone does not convey the depth of time, which can only be considered through the layering of the layers of each historical context.
